IELTS Speaking Part 1: Scenery

Absolutely, I’m always keen to gaze at the passing scenery during road trips. I find spotting rolling hills, rustic farmsteads and hidden coastal coves calming, and it lets me avoid the monotony of mindlessly scrolling through my phone.

Absolutely, I’m always quick to snap candid shots of the passing vistas when I’m in a moving vehicle, particularly on cross-country drives. Those unscripted frames of rolling meadows or coastal cliffs make lovely mementos of my journeys.

I’d definitely pick the sea over mountains, as the rhythmic crash of waves and briny sea breeze never fail to soothe my frazzled nerves after a draining week of work. I also adore taking leisurely coastal hikes at golden hour.

The most breathtaking vista I’ve encountered was the alpine sunrise over Jiuzhaigou Valley last spring. Its crystal-clear turquoise lakes reflecting snow-capped peaks left me utterly mesmerized, and I still vividly recall that serene moment.

I’m far more drawn to rural landscapes over urban cityscapes. Rolling hills, unspoiled meadows and sprawling farmlands offer a peaceful respite from the chaotic, concrete-dominated vistas you see in most metropolitan areas.

While I’m constantly fascinated by exotic natural vistas overseas, I’d still pick domestic scenery as my favourite, as its diverse geological features and cultural connotations resonate far more with me.
