Describe a child you know who likes drawing very much.

You should say:

• How you knew him/her

• What he/she is like

• How often he/she draws

• And explain why you think he/she likes drawing

You will have to talk about the topic for 1 to 2 minutes. You have 1 minute to think about what you are going to say. You can make some notes to help you if you wish.

The child who springs to mind when talking about young drawing lovers is my 7-year-old cousin Mia, who I have known since she was a toddler, and we grew even closer last year when I babysat her for a week while her parents were on a business trip. First, Mia is fairly introverted around people she doesn’t know well, but she becomes remarkably animated when discussing anything art-related. Second, she draws on a daily basis: no matter how busy she is with schoolwork, she spends at least 40 minutes drawing every evening, attends a specialized watercolor workshop every weekend, and always carries a pocket sketchbook to doodle whatever catches her eye when we go out. As for why she is so keen on drawing, she once told me that drawing is her favorite emotional outlet – when she feels upset or excited, she can express those feelings perfectly through her works without needing to explain them to anyone. She also has an incredibly vivid imagination, and drawing lets her bring her magical fantasy world, like flying cats and floating forests, to life. Last month, one of her works was selected for a local children’s art exhibition, which gave her a huge sense of achievement. I truly admire her sustained passion for drawing, and I hope she keeps this hobby for life.
