Describe a live sports event you watched before

You should say:

• When it happened

• Where it took place

• Who you watched it with

• And explain how you felt about this experience

You will have to talk about the topic for 1 to 2 minutes. You have 1 minute to think about what you are going to say. You can make some notes to help you if you wish.

I’d like to talk about the 2019 Chinese Super League Shanghai derby match I watched live at Hongkou Football Stadium, which remains one of my most vivid sporting memories. It was back in late October 2019, right before my first round of college entrance exam mock tests. My dad, a die-hard Shanghai Shenhua fan, scored two last-minute resale tickets as a reward for my consistent study efforts, so we headed to the stadium together right after my evening self-study session. The atmosphere was absolutely electric: thousands of fans chanted team anthems in unison, waved enormous colourful tifos, and erupted into deafening cheers every time a player made a dangerous breakthrough. The nail-biting final 10 minutes, when Shenhua scored a last-gasp equalizer to tie the game 2-2, sent our entire stand into a wild, unbridled frenzy. What made the experience truly unforgettable wasn’t just the tense match, but the unfiltered collective passion you can never pick up through a TV broadcast. Sharing that raw, unplanned joy with my dad made it even more special, and it’s a memory I still treasure deeply.
