The person who inspired my long-term passion for environmental protection is my aunt, a professional conservation biologist who works at a coastal wetland reserve. When I was 12, I spent my summer holiday with her, and she took me on regular migratory bird monitoring trips. One day we spotted a little egret tangled in discarded fishing nets, its wing bleeding badly. Instead of just lecturing me about the importance of nature, she let me witness first-hand how human irresponsible behaviours drive habitat degradation and harm vulnerable wild species. She encouraged me to join local conservation volunteer teams, adopt a zero-waste lifestyle by ditching single-use plastics, and share practical sustainable tips on my social media to raise awareness among my peers. Today I run an environmental club at my university, and I owe this entire journey to my aunt. She is my absolute role model, as she helped me build a deep emotional bond with nature rather than seeing eco-protection as a boring, mandatory chore.
