One person who immediately comes to mind when I think of photography lovers is my cousin Clara, a part-time freelance photographer based in our hometown. We’ve been in each other’s lives since early childhood, as our families live just a 10-minute walk apart, but I truly grasped the depth of her obsession with taking photos during our high school graduation trip to a coastal town 5 years ago—she hauled her heavy DSLR camera everywhere, even waking up at 5 a.m. to hike to a cliffside spot and capture the pastel sunrise over the sea. Her go-to shooting spots are remarkably diverse: she meanders through the city’s crumbling historic alleyways to snap candid moments of street vendors and elderly residents playing chess, hikes to remote mountain villages to document fading traditional folk customs, and even kneels in suburban wildflower meadows to shoot close-ups of dewdrops on petals on sunny afternoons. I find her relentless dedication truly inspiring.
