Describe a place you would like to visit in your free time.
You should say:
• Where it is
• What you will do there
• How long you will stay there
• And explain why you would like to visit it
You will have to talk about the topic for 1 to 2 minutes. You have 1 minute to think about what you are going to say. You can make some notes to help you if you wish.
The place I’m dying to visit in my free time is the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, a serene natural and cultural site tucked away in the western outskirts of Kyoto, Japan. If I make the trip, I’ll start each day with a dawn stroll through the towering bamboo stalks, when the area is free of crowds and the only sound is the soft rustle of leaves swaying in the mountain breeze. I’ll also pop into the nearby Tenryu-ji Temple to admire its meticulously maintained Zen garden, and sample creamy matcha parfaits at a tiny family-run teahouse at the foot of the hill. I plan to spend two full days there, staying in a cozy traditional wooden townhouse to fully immerse myself in the slow-paced local vibe, rather than rushing through as a casual day tripper. What draws me most is that it’s a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of my fast-paced city life; the lush, otherworldly bamboo forest is said to have an incredibly calming effect on the mind, which I desperately need to recharge after months of tight work deadlines. I’m already setting aside a small travel fund each month, and I reckon it’ll be the most rejuvenating leisure break I’ve had in years.
