Describe a short trip you often do but you don’t like.

You should say:

• Where you travel to

• How often you do this trip

• Why you need to do this trip

• And explain why you don’t like this trip

You will have to talk about the topic for 1 to 2 minutes. You have 1 minute to think about what you are going to say. You can make some notes to help you if you wish.

Right, the short trip I take regularly but absolutely loathe is the 40-minute bus ride to a wholesale grocery market on the western outskirts of my hometown. I make this trip twice a week, every Tuesday and Friday morning, without fail. It’s non-negotiable because my family runs a small neighbourhood café, and we source all our fresh produce and baking staples from this market – the prices are 30% lower than local suppliers, and the quality is far more consistent for our sourdough and seasonal brunch menus. The main reason I detest it is the chronic traffic congestion during rush hour; what should be a 40-minute journey often stretches to over an hour, crammed into a bus with other vendors carrying damp, pungent goods. On top of that, hauling 10+ kilos of flour and veg back on the bus leaves my shoulders aching for hours. I’ve begged my parents to pay for delivery, but they say it would eat into our already tight overheads, so I’m stuck with it for now.
