Describe A special day out that didn't cost you much
Describe a special day out that didn't cost you much.
You should say:
• When the day was
• Where you went
• How much you spent
• And explain how you feel about that day
You will have to talk about the topic for 1 to 2 minutes. You have 1 minute to think about what you are going to say. You can make some notes to help you if you wish.
Last April, I had a remarkably special yet thrifty day out with my flatmate at a riverside wetland reserve on the eastern outskirts of my hometown. First, we barely spent any money throughout the whole day: we rode shared bikes to get there, which cost us less than 3 yuan each, and we’d packed homemade sandwiches and iced lemon tea from home so we didn’t need to buy overpriced café food. The only other expense was a 2-yuan ice lolly from a street vendor near the entrance, so our total spend was under 10 yuan per person, basically negligible. Second, we stumbled on a complimentary guided nature walk run by local volunteer naturalists, who taught us to identify dozens of native waterbirds and wildflowers. We even spotted a rare egret catching fish in the reed beds, which felt like a tiny magical surprise. Looking back, that day made me realise that the most memorable moments often come from unplanned, low-cost experiences, rather than expensive, curated trips. The serene, unhurried vibe was way more refreshing than any pricey leisure activity I’ve done.
